Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students

The Post Matric Scholarship for OBC students scheme's goal is to provide monetary support to OBC students studying at the post-matriculation or post-secondary level in order for them to complete their academic achievements.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The scholarship money is open to Indian nationals actually belong to OBCs as defined by the Central Government/State Government.

  • Such scholarships are supposed to be granted for the study of all recognized post-matriculation or post-secondary core subjects pursued in recognized institutions, with the following exceptions:

    • Training courses such as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Course and Private Pilot License Courses

    • Courses at Training-Ship Duffer in (Now Rajendra)

    • Courses at Military College, Dehradun

    • Courses at Pre-examination Training Centers of All India

    • Courses at Pre-examination Training Centre

  • Only candidates who are permanently settled in the State to which they actually belong, and who've already passed the graduate studies or Higher Secondary or any higher exam of a recognized Board or university or Board of Secondary Education, will be qualified.

  • Candidates who are studying in the same stage of education in a different subject after passing one stage of education, e.g., I. SC after I. A, or B.Com after B.A, or M.A. in a subject after M.A. in another subject, will not be eligible.

  • Students who have finished their education journey in one specialist line, for example, LLB after B.T/B. Ed will not be eligible.

  • Students enrolled in the classes of the Higher Secondary School, or class XII of multipurpose high schools are not eligible for continuous school courses. However, in cases where the tenth class examination of such classes is regarded as comparable to Matriculation and students join other courses after passing the tenth class, such participants will be treated as post-matriculants.

  • Students who pursue postgraduate classes in medicine who are not permitted to practice during their course will be eligible.

  • Students who join any recognized professional or technical credential courses after having failed or getting passed the Under Undergrad examinations in Arts/Science/Commerce will be awarded a scholarship if otherwise eligible. Except for courses in Group 'A,' no successive failure will be considered acceptable, and no further changes to the course will be permitted.

  • Employed students whose income, when combined with their parents'/guardians' income, does not exceed Rs. One Lakh per year are eligible for post-matric scholarships covering the reimbursement of all compulsory payable non-refundable fees.

Important highlights

  • Students who are continuing their studies through distance learning will be eligible for non-refundable fee reimbursement. The term correspondence encompasses both distant and ongoing education. In addition to the non-refundable fee reimbursement, such students will be qualified to apply for an annual amount of Rs. 900/- for essential and/or recommended books, as applicable.

  • Scholarships will be awarded to only two children of the same parents/guardians. This restriction, however, will not apply to females. As a result, scholarships obtained by girls of the same parents/guardians will not affect eligibility for scholarships obtained by up to two boys of the same parents/guardians.

  • A scholarship owner within this scheme will not be eligible for any other scholarship or financial assistance.

  • All eligible candidates from Other Backward Classes will be given scholarships, subject to the eligibility conditions specified in this scheme.

  • Candidates from one state who are planning to study in another state will be awarded scholarships by the state to which they belong, and their applications will be submitted to the competent authorities in that state.
